There are no bad students, only bad teachers.

2010/07/29
We are reminded that there are no bad students,
only bad teachers,
and those in positions of authority
must work for the greater good of others.
---Taken from God Is At Work in You

The same should apply, anywhere, everywhere, and the master should act like the servant of the rest.

Yes, fine, shut me up with the argument that "we don't see this happening in 95% of places around the world".

First of all, almost all percentages in posts are made up. Even the one in the sentence above has been made up. Secondly, we know how human it is to go gaga over something. Thirdly, we know that power corrupts.

An undoing of the commune as the leader so puts it is due to the people's dissatisfaction. And what leads to the people's dissatisfaction ? The leader's incompetence, or something or others. We can't help but feel the pinch.

With this, I hope that from this day onward, people at the higher rungs of society, or of an organisation, would start learning how to care.

There are bad students. Jesus was a perfect teacher, yet Judas still betrayed Him.

Power doesn't corrupt, it merely reveals what's hidden. Power belongs to God; nobody acquires it by his own volition.

The problem is twofold. Yes, those in authority readily forget that they should be servants of all. But those under them readily forget their part, too. A couple years ago, America followed the stupendous tradition of electing another president. For what reason? So they could complain about how bad a job he does for the next four years. Why? Because they don't want to be held accountable. It's the president's fault. We elected him and he plain isn't doing his job. It's not my fault I don't discipline my kids, cheat on my wife, and spend all my money on myself.

:P

Rebuttal :

There are bad teachers. Who was Judas' teacher ? Who taught him to do such a thing ? Whilst ultimately, yes, he made the choice and deserved to face the consequences, no one gets evil overnight.

About presidential elections... and power... you're quite right. :D I guess sometimes the same can be said here, though politics here are relatively conservative compared to elsewhere, and we're just hoping it stays this way for good...

I didn't say that there aren't bad teachers. But what you quoted said that there aren't bad students, and that's a lie. :)

Who was Judas' teacher ?

Judas Iscariot, who was one of the Twelve... (Mark 14:10)

no one gets evil overnight.

Then after [he had taken] the bit of food, Satan entered into and took possession of [Judas]. (John 13:27)

And the Lord said to Moses, When you return into Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all those miracles and wonders which I have put in your hand; but I will make him stubborn and harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go. (Exodus 4:21)

Voila. Judas allowed Satan to get into him. No one gets evil overnight. It doesn't happen like.... Satan gets into Judas and WHAM !

By "who was Judas' teacher" I meant "who taught him to betray". Judas was one of the Twelve, I don't deny.

Let's face it - we all have sinful upbringings to a certain extent. Some have it to a greater extent. While we don't know for sure what these people went through, the Twelve decided to leave everything and follow Jesus (well, at least this was the case for 11 out of 12). I'm not sure where this is quoted, but I remember coming across it - we sin because we have knowledge of the Law - when we know something's wrong, to be more precise. That knowledge has to be imparted on us. We all fall partly due to that knowledge, and more so due to our own nature. Wouldn't it make us all bad students ?
