We need to put Christ back in Christmas

2008/12/24

This was forwarded to me by one of my Sunset Band friends, Derrick Low. I read the message and I was touched - something compelled me to post this message up. I hardly receive forwarded mails, but when I do, I get really good ones. And now that it's the Christmas season, we feel the need to put Christ back in Christmas ! So, maybe we should ask ourselves... who is better ? Jesus Christ or Santa Claus ?

Santa lives at the North Pole.
Jesus is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh.
Jesus rides the wind and walks on water.

Santa comes but once a year.
Jesus is an ever-present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies.
Jesus stands at your door and knocks... and then, enters your heart.

You have to stand in line to see Santa.
Jesus is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap.
Jesus lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn't know your name ; all he can say is "Hi little boy/girl, what's your name ?"
Jesus knew our names before we even got them. Not only does He know our names, He knows our address, our history, our future... and the number of hairs we have on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowlful of jelly.
Jesus has a heart full of love.

All Santa can offer is Ho Ho Ho.
Jesus offers health, help and hope.

Santa says "You better not cry."
Jesus says "Cast all your cares for me for I care for you."

Santa's little helpers make toys.
Jesus makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may very well make you chuckle.
Jesus gives you joy that is your strength.

When Santa puts gifts under the tree,
Jesus became our gift and died for us on the tree.

Having said this, we need to remember who Christmas is all about. We need to put the Christ back in Christmas.

To all readers and to everyone, I wish you a blessed Christmas and New Year 2009.
