Cover #7

2010/06/16

I have already arrived at my seventh cover ! Praise the Lord !

This one is the first song by Alizée that I ever sang in my entire life, in full : L'Alizé. And this comes from the good old days when Alizée was still under the guidance of Laurent Boutonnat (songwriter) and Mylène Farmer (herself a performer and lyricist).

Alright, about the song. L'alizé literally means "the trade wind", and Alizée was named after the trade wind, indeed. And as you can guess, the song introduces Alizée's personality. She sang this when she was 16, when her career first took off. And that was way back in 2000.

I had thought of these vocals (and backing vocals) when I first listened to the song, i.e. in late 2004 - early 2005. I first heard about Alizée through her English single, I'm Not Twenty, which was top on the Hitz.TV charts for three months straight. I took a close look at the music video and I quite admired her grace. The next three songs I heard (in chronological order) were Moi Lolita (her very first single), Lui ou Toi and L'Alizé.

I finally get to put them in vocal form today ! I'm glad !

Now you tell me how it actually is. This is not going to be the last Alizée cover, as I was once a fan of hers.

Amen. Hahahaha. Praise the Lord!

This was an interesting song. I liked it. :) Didn't understand a word of it, but I'd listen to it, again. :P
